The ZA-35 was a project by ARMSCOR in the early 1990s to arm the Rooikat chassi with an anti aircraft turret. It was armed with dual 35mm cannons similar to the Gepard and the Marksman, produced by Lyttelton Engineering, which were derived from the Oerlikon 35mm. The radar was mounted as tall as 5 meters to try and avoid radar ground clutter. Only a few prototypes were made.

There was also a proposed collaboration between South Africa and the Soviet union to mount the ZA-35 turret on the T-72 Chassi. South Africa would produce the turrets and the USSR would produce the Hulls.
