During WW1, Spudland hadn’t come into existence yet. However, after the breakup of Austro-Hungary, it came into existence next to Carclova in the Mediterranean.

During the interwar period, concerned by the multiple conflicts happening in Turkey, Russia, and China, Spudland kickstarted their military efforts. However, being a small nation with no ambitions for more land, Spudland decided to focus more on fortresses and defensive positions.

In 1934, Spudland signed a deal with the United States of America for trade of armored vehicle information and other information things like raw materials and food. Since the United States was interested in the shipping possibilities of the Mediterranean, having a nation that bordered it and was allies with Carclova and Italy (two other Mediterranean nations) was considered a major strategic possibility for trading and naval operations.

Spudland became very interested in the armored concepts of heavy tanks and Self Propelled Guns.

They saw these vehicles armor and firepower as a great defensive factor. Some members of the military had qualms about the mobility of these vehicles, but mobility was not considered a necessity in defense of the nation.

As WW2 started, Spudland remained neutral. However, during 1943, they joined with Carclova to create the Soviet Opposed Nations. This was spurred by the crushing German defeat at Stalingrad.

They fought battles with Carclova against the Soviets until 1947, when the Eastern War of Protection was ended.

During the Cold War, they he U.S supported Spudland and Carclova, seeing them as potential allies for a theoretical invasion of the Soviet Union. Spudland received large amounts of U.S tanks, and worked with designers from all NATO nations to develop new armored vehicles.
