The ASU-57 was a built as a air droppable assult gun for the Soviet Airborne Forces or VDV. This It was the first succesful Soviet airborne tank. With it needing to be air droppable it had to sacrifice a lot of armour and also size with it needing to fit in helicopters and other aircraft, this meant that it also weighed only around 4 tons. Due to its light weight and size it could use the engine from the GAZ-M20 which was a car, having around 50HP. Its production ended in 1962 when its gun was no longer efficient enough to deal with enemy threats, and also because of the new ASU-85 outclassing it in almost every way.
