T-90M (hull) / T-90M (turret) / 120mm TKG (gun)

get the gun, then hull and then turret the hull has an almost impenetrable UFP bar the drivers hatch and is surprisingly mobile for a T-tank. the turret also has exceptional frontal armour protection which is aided by the 120mm TKG having an armoured section Infront of the breech, it has a good reload multiplier of 1.49, a Laser Warning System which alerts you if someone is looking at you with FCS on or is range finding you with a Laser Range Finder allowing you to return fire or fall back into cover and arguably the best for last, the turret comes with fairly reliably hard-kill APS which most of the time will intercept and stop almost all missiles and slow shells, mainly HEAT, preventing them from directly hitting you and in some rare cases they may even trigger on Kinetic shells which can reduce their penetration. the gun as previously mentioned gives a genuinely helpful boost to the armour around the barrel as well has having the best angled APFSDS penetration while having a negligibly faster reload speed compared to the other tier 12 120/125mm cannons excluding the 125mm 2A46M-1 with has a marginally faster base reload and the APFSDS has the "A-ERA” Anti-Explosive Reactive Armour trait which gives allows it to penetrate ERA much easier than a normal APFSDS shell. after this you now have a good tank that can make you tons of money in top tier so you can go back and unlock all the lower tier parts you want to mess around with. see my “Certified Evil” section on great tank builds I recommend if your not sure what is good or just peruse top rated parts and setups on the wider website! good luck and happy tanmking :

Contender 2M (hull) / Challenger 2 (turret) / 105mm High Pressure CV (gun)

get the gun, then hull and then turret the hull is special as it is one of the few MBT hulls with blowout ammo meaning that if you use a turret with blowout ammo you cannot be killed by ammunition detonation unless you don’t put the fire out , it also has decent armour protection against Kinetic ammunition AP/APHE/APDS/APFSDS and a few ATGMS and very good frontal and side protection against Chemical ammunition HE/HESH/HEAT/ATGMs the turret has very thick armour in some places but its main selling point is it has the “ready rack” trait on one of its ammo racks meaning that any shells being loaded from that rack will have an increased reload speed and your tank will passively move ammo from other ammo racks into that rack. the gun is a further improvement to the 105mm M68 with more pen, a faster reload and better shell velocity with the only downside being less damage and pen compared to the more common 120/125mm cannons which you have to craft from blueprints.

C1 Ariete (hull) / Contender 1E (turret) / 105mm M68 (gun)

get the gun, then turret and then hull the hull, while 15km/h slower than the Contender E1 has better armour protection that can block some shells the turret has 2-25x zoom which is amazing for sniping as well as two spaced out blowout ammo racks, decent armour and a high reload multiplier of 1.5 with the only downsides being its poor gun depression and easily identifiably weak spot the gun has only slightly more overall APFSDS penetration than the 105mm OTO but a noticeably shorter reload
