The original of the 2S was requested by Phmetal for UEP to make a Modern Contender. Only the turret was made while the hull was only on paper. The 2S had problems. The first one was the autoloader system jamming after firing or loading the shells. It picked the wrong shell a lot of the time, and that is why, in testing, the autoloader was replaced by a manual loader before they could fix it, but the turret had limited defense. Phmetal wanted aps and MAW but the 2S had problems with holding them, so the model was canceled after Contender 2M concept was made. 

Contender 2T

The original Contender 2T is a simple conversion from the 2M to use a 105mm and reduce cost for crew training. The original requested by Phmetal for UEP to make a training ground conversion with a simple autoloader change and 105mm cannon
